“BJ Martin is currently Nova’s Space Safety & Mission Assurance Lead. Responsible for developing capability and business, and governing quality delivery of ‘Access to Space’ SME support offerings in launch/return safety assessment & implementation, regulatory requirements and flight safety modelling & analysis. Formerly Nova’s global Capability Lead for Safety and Certification covering all of Nova’s multi domain regulatory exposure – he has led a number of new technology safety advisory projects. BJ hails from a military aviation safety & certification background from several acquisition projects including a number of early large UAS introductions to service.

Since the time of formation of the ASA, BJ and his team have parlayed their history from managing range safety for Woomera’s previous era of hypersonics launch activity, to providing expert regulatory support services to new Space Agency regulators. The team is comprised of former military flight and weapons test expertise plus significant contemporary commercial space safety experience. Currently delivering in Australia, Australian Defence, New Zealand and Norway. As well as some specialist industry ‘how-to’ advice for new entrants.

BJ is motivated to contribute to constructive progress of contemporary safe and pragmatic regulation for new space industry and government agencies to advance sustainable access to space.”
