Jasmin James is a Senior Engagement Officer at the Australian Space Agency. As a member of the Office of the Space Regulator’s Regulatory Engagement Team, Jasmin and her colleagues are responsible for ensuring confidence in the Australian Space Agency as a regulator including:

• Providing platforms enabling collaboration and information sharing between the Office of the Space Regulator and space sector stakeholders.
• Facilitating the regulatory process for applicants seeking to undertake space activities in Australia.
• Educating stakeholders about regulatory requirements and international obligations.
• Promoting the work of the Office of the Space Regulator.
• Providing platforms that enable collaboration and information sharing.
• Predicting and acting on the Office of the Space Regulator’s needs regarding information sharing, consultation and engagement.
• Assisting the Office of the Space Regulator to harmonise activities with other regulators to achieve better regulatory outcomes including establishing clear operational scopes, sharing intelligence and providing guidance.
• Collecting, sharing and utilising space sector insights.

Jasmin joined the Australian Space Agency in 2022 after working in the legal sector and the Australian Public Service.

Jasmin earned a Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in Sociology) and Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice from Griffith University and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Queensland University of Technology. Jasmin attended the Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program in 2025 administered by the International Space University in Partnership with the University of South Australia.
