Dr Kathryn Robison is a Lecturer at the United States Studies Centre and a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Space Governance (ACSG). She holds a PhD and MA in Political Science from the University of Alabama, a BA in American Studies from Youngstown State University, and a dual BA in Anthropology and Near Eastern Studies from the University of Arizona.
Kathryn specialises in the role of political communication in the formation and dissemination of US space policy at both the domestic and international level. Kathryn also has expertise in the areas of political communication, behaviour, and public opinion. Together with her colleagues at the ACSG, published the first comprehensive survey of Australian public opinion on space.
Kathryn is passionate about mentoring and giving back. She actively volunteers in the space sector, currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Workforce Development Subcommittee for the International Astronautical Federation’s (IAF) Workforce Development/Young Professionals Programme and Space Education and Outreach Committees. Kathryn is part of the UN’s Space4Women Network, the Launchpad Mentorship Programme at IAF, and was recognised as IAF Young Space Leader after being nominated by NASA in 2021. She is also a regular contributor to the Talking Space podcast.
