Sue Streit is the Principal Planner at the Queensland State Disaster Coordination Centre, a role she has held since July 2024. Before joining the Queensland Police Service, Sue had nearly 30 years of experience as a logistics officer in the Australian Army, she brings extensive operational expertise and a deep commitment to public service. In Defence, Sue had five years experience as a Defence Liaison Officer to the State of Queensland with her first foray into State disaster response beginning just four days into that role during the 2019 Queensland cyclone and flood event—an experience that sparked her passion for disaster management.
Sue holds a Master’s degree in Business from the University of NSW and has served in diverse leadership roles across Defence, honing skills in coordination, logistics, leadership and strategic planning. Now based in Brisbane, where she has lived since December 2011, Sue leads a dynamic team of planners and Whole-of-Government volunteers who play a critical role in shaping Queensland’s disaster response.
Outside of work, Sue is married and mother to three amazing children. Sue enjoys sports and continues to play soccer. She has lived in most states and territories of Australia, but considers Queensland home.
